Eye-liner is a great way to draw attention to the eyes, enhancing them, adding a dramatic finish or a subtle touch that works to make the eyes stand out, making the most of their shape and colour.
When you know what you’re doing, liner is simple to apply, but it does take some precision and care, and is worth taking your time over. So when you’ve spent some of your valuable time applying your liner, you’ll want it to stay put all day, with out smudging or fading.
Unfortunately, liner is prone to smudging, particularly in cold and windy weather, so here’s how to apply yours to make it last you through day and night-
Step One
The base on which you apply your liner is key to how long your look will last. A great base means that your eye-liner has a fighting chance of staying put.
Start by cleansing the skin so it is free from excess oil and dirt. Next apply an eye primer to the lids before applying any foundation on concealer. A primer will help make-up last longer and a clear base will also make your liner look neater and bolder in colour and shape.
Step Two
Now it’s time to apply your liner. The best liners for staying power and bold colour are liquid liners. Invest in a good quality waterproof liner that won’t smudge were your eyes to water, which of course through out the day they do.
Once you’ve applied your base, take your liquid liner and begin to apply. Using your pointing finger, pull your lid taught by pushing it up and out towards the end of your eyebrow. Tilt your head up slightly too, this enables you to get very close to the lash line for a seamless finish.
Draw liner along the lash line, starting thin and getting a little thicker towards the middle of the eye. At the outer corner of the eye sweep the liner up to create a flick.
Step Three
Finally, to make your liner budge proof, pat on a little powder to seal it in. A transparent powder will work, but it may dull the colour a little. To keep colour bold try carefully patting on a powder shadow in the same colour, making the colour bolder and keeping your liner in place all day.
Finally, here is the finished look. Have a go and let me know how you get on!
